Coleman was born in Alabama in the USA and has lived in Nigeria, Botswana, the UK and finally Australia where he studied Literature and Computer Aided Art and Design after high school.  As well as his work for publishers, Coleman has produced artwork for advertising and theatre companies. 

He currently lives in Melbourne, Australia with his partner, Briony and their two young daughters, Lola and Isobel.
