Karin Littlewood

Karin, born and brought up in Yorkshire, always knew she wanted to be an illustrator.  After studying Graphic Design at Northumbria University she did an MA at Manchester Metropolitan University specialising in Illustration.  She has produced work for numerous newspapers and magazines, design and packaging companies and has illustrated over thirty children’s books.

Karin lives in Stoke Newington with her partner, Robin who is also an illustrator.  A quick cycle ride from home takes her to her studio in central London, which she shares with designers, illustrators and artists – an inspiring and creative place to be. Karin regularly gives illustration workshops at schools, festivals, libraries and bookshops, finding this an enjoyable experience and a great chance to meet her audience

IMMI written and illustrated by Karin

'One of the most understated and beautiful picture books of the year is IMMI, a story of a young eskimo girl who lives alone and inhabits a freezing Arctic world of endless white snow.  One day, while ice fishing, she finds a little wooden bird on the end of fishing rod and takes it home to decorate her igloo.  Day after day she finds more and more treasure and soon her igloo is the most beautifully coloured and beautiful thing in the Arctic.  Spare text and gorgeous watercolour illustrations make for a gently uplifting and timeless story about sharing and friendship.'
