Wayne was born in England in 1946. After studying Graphic Design at Leicester College he moved to London to work as a freelance illustrator. He now lives in a small village in Leicestershire with his wife and children.

His studio is in the centre of Leicester overlooking the largest open market in Europe. As well as working in children's books Wayne has worked in advertising, posters and greetings cards. One of his books has been made into a feature length animated film and his work has also been the subject of a TV documentary.
