Jon was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1962 and studied fine art at the National College of Art and Design. Since graduating in 1983 he has enjoyed a peripatetic career as a freelance illustrator writer in Dublin, London, Sydney and Hong Kong. He now works in Barcelona, where he lives with his wife and five children.

Jon has illustrated for many major publications around the world, including The Sunday Tribune, The Sydney Morning Herald, The South China Morning Post, The Irish Times, Asiaweek, Wirtschaftswoche and El Tiempo. He has illustrated numerous book covers for various publishing houses, as well as books on subjects as diverse as cookery and quotations and abridged editions of books by Arthur Conan Doyle and Joseph Conrad. His work for advertising and design has won awards from the 4A's (Hong Kong), The ICAD in Ireland and the Society of Newspaper Design in the US.

Jon is currently finishing a major work of fiction for ten to fourteen year olds called THE PALACE OF LAUGHTER. This went to auction with a number of UK publishers bidding. It was acquired by HarperCollins US for a six figure sum and will be published in late 2005. Simon & Schuster are to publish in the UK.
