Born in Newcastle, Jill moved to Lincoln at an early age. She did her art foundation course in Lincoln then studied Illustration at Cambridge before moving to London to pursue illustration as a career. She worked in advertising, design and editorial plus work for the BBC.

Jill supplemented her income working briefly as a cycle courier! She now lives in rural Somerset close to the sea with her dog, Bob, and two horses. She spends some of her time helping to train racehorses and loves early morning walks with Bob.
