Eunice McMullen was born and brought up in The Lake District. She studied English at Manchester and remained in the area to work as an English teacher and librarian. Her passion for children's books extended out of the classroom to include editing a children's book magazine with a national circulation and arranging numerous book fairs with sponsorship from publishers. As a result of this Eunice was offered the position of Manager of The Puffin Club and Puffin School Book Clubs, editing their magazines and taking the London based Puffin Show on the road. Eunice then became the first director of The Children's Book Foundation, a charity promoting a love of books, followed by head of marketing for Macmillan Children's Books.
After seven years in publishing Eunice realised that her loyalties lay with the authors and illustrators she worked with rather than the publishers. Hence she joined a major London literary agency before setting up her own company in 1992. She returned to her home area, The Lake District National Park, in 2001 where she lives with her husband and two border collies, Lucy and Meg (and a family of noisy badgers), in a traditional Lakeland cottage. She travels regularly on business to London and New York. ![]()
When not working or reading, Eunice spends time walking her dogs, adding to the collection of Arts and Crafts antiques she's been building for almost twenty years and, more recently, planning and planting her riverside, woodland garden. ![]()
